Protest The Marriage Amendment

A Constitiutional amendment to honor one religious belief is contradictory to the Declaration Of Independence which states that there are three aspects listed among the "unalienable rights" or sovereign rights of man "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness" - this country was founded on freedom of religion which means that NO religion should have the POWER to amend the Constitution that governs us ALL. Everyone is FREE to believe what they want but to insist that others follow a specific belief belonging to another group/someone else via an amendment to our Constitution is just flat out wrong. It contradicts the "pursuit of Happiness" which is also a Liberty that should include ALL belief systems and this Pursuit of Happiness should give one the ability to choose whomever they wish to marry within the current set of laws. No Constitutional Amendment should represent one religious belief! This amendment is discriminatory to other religions and to people who are different from those wanting the amendment. Fear is driving this amendment and no amendment should be driven out of fear and/or ignorance or driven by one belief system/group of people that ends up discriminating against another group. If one group out of many has the power to make a Constitutional amendment there is something seriously wrong with this country's thought processes. Please protest this amendment - it is discriminatory to everyone and ASSUMES that everyone will just follow suit without a protest. The Constitution should not be expected to uphold discrimination against a group of people for a personal choice that is no one's business but their own. A spouse is a spouse, people need to be accepting of others and not expect the Constitution to uphold their discriminatory beliefs. Protest this marriage amendment as the Discriminatory amendment that it is. Thank You.

Why is this important?

No religious belief should be able to amend the Constitution! The United States was founded on FREEDOM OF RELIGION and quoting scripture that belongs to one religious belief system and allowing that one religion to make amendments opens this country up for all sorts of amendments.
