Corporate power and wealthy individuals control the federal government through paid lobbyists, mainly former elected officials and their staff. We all know this is corrupting and the only way to return power to the electorate is through public financing alone. We can begin by barring all lobbyist contact with congress and allowing only unpaid citizen contact with our elected officials. If an amendment to the U.S. Constitution is required we must initiate and support the process.
