For the government of the United States to be a true democracy, all campaigning for political office must be publicly funded, and all candidates must be selected by a candidate selection committee within each party. Funding for political campaigns would be limited to a specific amount and distributed equally to every candidate. To reduce campaign costs and encourage meaningful, informative debate, candidates should be required to meet at specific times at specific locations for debate, which would be aired for public viewing.
Why is this important?
For our system of government to be a true democracy, no private money should be permitted in political campaigning. Furthermore, every candidate for political office should should be selected by a special committee within the political party.
