"Put talented unemployed educators back to work in 2013-2014"
We are petitioning to use some of the 2013-14 budget to put unemployed, talented, dedicated educators back to work by having them lead curriculum and staff development projects such as mentoring new teachers, managing after-school/out of school projects, parent trainings, and other programs that will enhance and raise students' achievement. All students, particularly the underserved, as well as the economy, would benefit from re-hiring the number of talented, dedicated educators who are out of work in Massachusetts and in many parts of the country.
Why is this important?
Various factors contribute to highly competent teachers’ unemployment. New teachers are laid off go for budgetary or other factors. Conversely, there are examples of very knowledgeable and skilled professional status (tenured) educators like myself who are out of work. Students and families can use these educators’ talents. Please put these educators back to work in the fall!
