Rabbi Hier, Don't Normalize Trump
Rabbi Marvin Hier, head of the Simon Wiesenthal Center and lifelong fighter for understanding and tolerance among religions, has agreed to give a prayer at Donald Trump's inauguration. This is a betrayal of his life's work and a tacit indication of approval for someone whose campaign was built on hatred.
Why is this important?
As a progressive Jew, I am horrified that someone with Rabbi Hier's history and reputation would give his imprimatur to the presidency of a man who has sought and encouraged the support of the most dangerous bigots in this country. Rabbi Hier should withdraw his agreement to speak at the inauguration and take no other action to normalize this evil man and his evil administration.
