Congress should no longer recieve benfits after they leave office, including their families. They should recieve social security benfits and medicare when they reach retirement age and should no longer be able to collect full benfits. The original power that congress had did not give them the ability to give themselves a raise and that should be put to the people on a ballot every 2 years. Futhermore congress should work on a base salary plus commission not to exceed their present salary. If the get the right things done, ie cutting the buget, in the right places ending programs that are redundant and doing what they should be, than a 100 person voluntary panel made up of one democrate and one republican from each state will vote and vote fairly to allow them to make their full salary on a yearly basis.

Why is this important?
