August 13, 2014 will mark 100 years since the establishment of the Gazette van Detroit, the last bilingual (Dutch-English) newspaper in North America serving the more than 1,000,000 Americans of the Flemish diaspora. Please recognize this event formally with a letter in time for the Centenary Dinner on September 14, 2014 at the Grosse Pointe War Memorial near Detroit. The Gazette van Detroit is run and operated by the all-volunteer 501c3 non-profit Belgian Publishing Inc.
Why is this important?
I am the son and grandson of Flemish immigrants. I am also the President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Belgian Publishing Inc. Like all the other volunteers, I receive no compensation of any sort or kind.
