Gail McGovern, We demand quality and safety in the collection and processing of our nation's blood supply. Stop silencing the workforce, they are the first line in the detection of blood quality issues. Allow them their right to collective bargaining.
Why is this important?
Workers at the American Red Cross located in both Michigan and Ohio are being forced to strike over rising concerns about understaffing and cuts in health care benefits, despite $2 billion in revenue from blood donations. Long shifts with short staff and high pressure resulted in over $30 million in FDA fines in recent years. Without a voice at the table, issues regarding blood safety will only get worse. We are calling on Gail McGovern, Executive Director of the American Red Cross, who gets paid over $1 million per year, to stop the agenda to cut the employees out of the collective bargaining process.
