Don't reduce the cost of living adjustment to Social Security. It's already too small, and doesn't include the cost of food and energy! We paid that TAX for all our lives, we deserve a decent return of and on our tax paid, and it is NOT an "entitlement".....we deserve it! It's already much too low compared to govt. workers' pensions that were mostly paid for by us in the private sector to begin with!
Why is this important?
I am on early Soc. Sec. because I needed the income, and it's ridiculous to consider reducing our small COLA increases when the CPI index used for the pct. increase doesn't even include food and energy, 2 of seniors' biggest costs, along with medical and shelter. With govt. workers' pensions out of control, how about reducing those and also, make EVERY govt. worker pay into Soc. Sec. too!
