Hold Legislators accountable. Before they reduce benefits for the poor and middle class, they must agree to substantial salary and benefit reductions for themselves.
Why is this important?
In Washington and in many states, as well, bloated pay and benefits packages insulate Legislators from the reality felt by their constituents; thus, they support massive tax cuts for folks like themselves and benefit cuts for the rest of us. Before they increase the burden on the poor and middle class, they should be forced to cut corners on themselves.
