Reduce rates on school loans
Congress should act immediately to guarantee those with school loans that their interest rates will not go up. Additionally, we ask Congress to do something about the high cost of higher education, starting now, with a permanent cap on interest rates charged for school loans.
Why is this important?
The rate on school loans is set to double to 6.8% unless Congress acts to extend the lower rate for another year or two. Even 3.4% is too high, when the cost of other loans is lower, it isn't right that school loans cost so much.
