Gasoline and heating fuel in Nome costs consumers too much. Norton Sound Economic Development Corporation subsidizes fuel prices in 14 of the 15 villages for which it receives revenues under the federal Community Development Quota program. Nome residents demand an equal subsidy for our fuel costs.
Why is this important?
Prices for gasoline and heating fuel are unjustifiably higher than the national average which seriously impacts the cost of living and the quality of life for all Nome residents.
