The signers of this petition believe that whereas the University of Akron is having financial difficulties, and whereas staff have been cut to balance the school's budget, be it resolved that the Board of Trustees and University President Scarborough should begin reductions in management positions above the level of department chair. The board should also consider enacting salary caps for administration and athletics officials.
Why is this important?
The University of Akron is being mismanaged. As a teacher, I have seen academics take a backseat to other special interests including construction, athletics programs, and the propagation of a severely bloated administrative hierarchy.
