All contributions of $5000 or more to any candidate for a Federal office should be required to be matched by an equal amount paid to the Federal government, specifically to be used to help pay down the national debt.
Why is this important?
Large contributions to political campaigns and candidates are essentially totally unproductive wastes of money. This could be changed if large contributions were required to be matched by equal contributions to the Federal government, specifically to reduce the national debt.
