REFORM OF THE EDUCATION PROCESS
The antiquated current Public School system of grades, from kindergarten to 12th has not and does not work. If instead there were "Achievement Levels" allowing students to progress at their own pace, first teaching them to read so that they would have the ability and confidence to open and read a book. If they can't read they can't and won't learn. They could advance through the "levels" as they reach a competency in the required classes. In the grade system they are promoted whether or not they are ready or be able to do the work and are discouraged from learning and continue to fall behind. Their potential to complete their education and fully function as adults will be lost
Why is this important?
Having been in education for almost 50 years, I've watched the educational system stagnate with no innovation to match the changing needs of teaching to a diverse student population.
