Reform Prop 13

We the citizens of California would like our legislators to reform Proposition 13, leaving the protections it offers residences in place, but restructuring the commercial aspects of the law so that those taxes may increase in a balanced and reasonable manner. This will give younger companies a better chance to compete and thrive as well as raise revenues for our suffering state institutions, like the school system and emergency services. Make the tax system work for the people again, and not against the majority of us!

Why is this important?

Prop 13 is broken and has been starving our state of desperately needed revenues unfairly. Proposition 13 has done a great job to protect the elderly etc from being forced from their homes by skyrocketing property taxes, but most people don't know that it disproportionately favors corporations. The majority of our property taxes used to come from business property, but now it comes from residential property. This must stop.
