Regulate the Banks

Don't let the banks and financial industry take down our economy again. Urge Congress and the Administration to pass regulations before July 2 that will curb excessive risks. If they don't do so, vote by withdrawing your bank account in protest for 2 days--then they may just listen. We need reform in the banks and on Wall Street. We can call July 2 the "Day of Withdrawal."

Why is this important?

As someone who is watching the Chase Bank fiasco--an echo of times past--I am appalled at:
1. Congressional and presidential inaction, resistance or inability to pass regulation
2. the unfortunate weakness of the Wall Street protesters to focus and sustain positive reform,
I want to issue a call for a "Day of Withdrawal"...e.g., a date when folks pull their funds from their respective banks IF some kind of regulation is not successful. Such collective protest--with real financial consequences--may just be the thing that can launch reform that protects the 'regular folk' from being run roughshod by irresponsible politicians and financiers.
