In the past decade the Rails - to - Trails conservancy has taken a dangerous leap from advocating trail conversion on already abandoned rail coridors to advocating the abandonment of intact, functioning rail corridors for the purpose of trail use under the guise of "railbanking".
This is of major concern to anyone with a stake in the green movement - and anyone who cares about the economic future of our nation.
Rail is the most efficient means of transportation we've got, and we need to save every mile of railroad we have in America!
