Reinstate Cost of Living Adjustments Taken Away by the 'Governator'
If you know someone who is an SSI recipient, then you know how virtually impossible it is for your loved one to make ends meet, let alone have some sort of dignity in his or her 'golden years'. Do not let the state take away that which those you loved worked for so hard and for so long. Sign this petition DEMANDING that the State of California return the Cost of Living Adjustments that were taken away by former-Governor Swarzenegger and his cronies in the California State Legislature. Thank you and God bless!
Why is this important?
In 2008, then-Governor Swarzenegger took away, not one but two, of the largest Cost of Living Allowances since 1982 costing the state's elderly, blind, and disabled, more than several hundreds of dollars per month; the largest being the 5.8% COLA in 2009. At a time when seniors, the blind, and the disabled are making half what they need to afford a dignified living, according to California's 'Elderly Index', the State of California needs to REINSTATE THOSE COLA PAYMENTS to those who need them the most.
