Reinstate Dr. Nagel To The New Hampshire Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs Committee

What do a fraud investigator, library trustee, IT professional, threat intelligence analyst, engineer, horseback riding instructor, biologist, accounting and enterprise software developer, lawyer, anti-vaccine mandate pharmacist, and “essential oil” store owner have in common? Not much, readers would think. This group represents the majority in the state’s Health, Human Services, and Elderly Affairs Committee. Rep. Dr. David Nagel (Gilford, Gilmanton and Laconia Ward 2) served on this committee until his recent removal. Why was he removed? Because he wouldn’t vote with the “majority” against bills he felt as a physician would do harm. Bills like HB 524 which would repeal the statute establishing the New Hampshire Vaccine Association. The NHVA ensures every child may receive vaccines no matter their family’s ability to pay. Ironically, he was removed from committee the day before this vote. Coincidence? I think not.

In recent weeks we have seen a major uptick in diseases that until recently were considered eradicated. In fact, the only reason we don’t have another full-blown epidemic is because of those who are. Why anyone would want to take a chance at their children becoming severely ill or even dying on this issue I don’t understand, but forcing the most qualified member of the majority out of this very important committee is unconscionable. This is not partisan; this is a health issue. If readers agree, I urge them to send a message to House leadership and governor that Dr. Nagel’s removal from the committee cannot be tolerated. I urge all residents but in particular Dr. Nagel’s constituents to sign on to this petition to insist that Dr. Nagel be reinstated to the Health, Human Services, and Elderly Affairs Committee!

Why is this important?

Dr. David Nagel was removed from the NH House Health, Human Services, and Elderly Affairs Committee just a day before an important vote that would have  repealed the statute establishing the New Hampshire Vaccine Association. The NHVA ensures every child may receive vaccines no matter their family’s ability to pay. Dr. Nagel has explained that this program is a "win win win" for our communities. As a medical professional and conservative he must be trusted that his opinion is in the best interest of the Granite State.
