Reinstate the Glass–Steagall Act
The root of the financial crisis lied in the repeal of Glass–Steagall. Banks should not be permitted to gamble with peoples' money.
The way to fix the economy is not to print more money, which devalues the dollar, but to enhance the purchasing power of what we earn and hold in cash.
Ever since the repeal of Glass - Steagall the derivative market has grown exponentially while simultaneously harming the purchasing power of the average American. The average American has watched prices increase in every aspect of their life but the average salary has stagnated.
Meanwhile the financial industry has grown exponentially by gambling with peoples' money. And when the system finally fell apart in 2008, they again abused the people by using taxpayer bailouts to remain open and continue to abuse the very people whose money they lost, and whose tax money they used to stay afloat.
Sign this petition and lets send it to Washington to reinstate Glass - Steagall and reign in the big banks who still are not being held accountable for their recklessness.
