Reinstating Jax Beach Softball Board of Directors Elections
This petition is a formal request that a date be set for the next meeting of the Members of the League, for the purpose of holding an election to determine the Board of Directors. Per the bylaws, the annual meeting of the Members of the League shall be held within six weeks after the close of the League’s Spring season, at which the Board of Directors shall present to the Members the names of those persons who have been nominated to serve as Directors. It has come to the attention of many that a vote has not been held in the recent seasons, if the previous election has not occurred at such designated time, we request that the next election take place prior to January 1, 2027. In accordance with the bylaws, a written notice stating the place, day and hour of the meeting shall be delivered to all Members of our League not less than 10 nor more than 60 days before the meeting.
Why is this important?
All Members of our League have the right to vote on who should hold the positions of our Board of Directors- President, Vice President, Second Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Members are persons who have made their contribution to the league starting January 1st of each year, membership is instated through December 31st of such year. It is important that all families of our League are given the opportunity to elect those who have their child(ren)’s best interest represented. We appreciate all of the dedication and hard work that goes into being on the Board of Directors, and would like to ensure that those in control of our League are those that have been elected by the majority of Members of the League.
Per the bylaws, a minimum of 20% of members can collectivley request a meeting, this is an effort to bring families together so that a meeting can be held for the election to take place. Any additional individual concerns pertaining the League can be addressed at a seperate appropriate time, such as one of the regularly scheduled bi-monthly Board of Directors meetings mentioned in the bylaws.
