All low wage workers are having a difficult time paying bills. We work very hard with little to no relief all year long. This would provide some relief to low wage workers and make them more productive.
Why is this important?
Cost of living raises for low-wage workers and two weeks vacation time every year effective at date of hire.
Ten paid sick days per year
It is very difficult to keep up with the cost of living when you don't make a living wage in the first place. Also, too many places of employment make you wait at least one year before being eligible for any vacation time whatsoever. I have not had a private sector job that has offered paid sick days since 1993. These days if you are too sick to go to work, your pay gets docked making it even more difficult to pay the bills.
