Remove from Master Plan the land designation change to heavy industrial on Crouse Mill Road Taney...
I am urging all Carroll County & Taneytown residents to sign this petition, stopping the land designation change to heavy industrial on Crouse Mill Road. Land designation change is the first step to get this property re-zoned for a plasma gasification plant to be built there. The property owners have already been in contact with the plasma gasification company and want to make this happen quickly, so we need everyone’s help to stop this now. This change would affect everyone, whether you live near/on Crouse Mill Road or you are a resident of Taneytown or in Carroll County. Changing the land designation to heavy industrial would not only mean a plasma gasification plant will be built, but imagine what else will start to be built in that area since it will be designated & zoned as heavy industrial. Think about this-hundreds of trucks bringing in tons of trash every single day to your home town, near your children’s schools, places of worship, and homes? Trash being hauled from out of state, and potentially out of country? Taneytown would become Trash Capital of the US-not to mention this would be the FIRST plasma gasification plant in the US making Taneytown and Carroll County residents GUINEA PIGS! There is NO long term studies of the effects of a plasma gasification plant in someone’s hometown, backyard, ect-this does not make me feel safe in raising my children/family near one. Another concern that should be high on residents list-property values will tank! Who will want to purchase a home to raise their family near a plasma gasification plant? How is this million dollar project going to affect tax payers? Let’s all work together, to stop this land designation change, so we can preserve our agriculture, homes and lifestyles!
Why is this important?
I live on Crouse Mill Road and would be affected in many ways if this land designation change occurs, therefore I am starting this petition to help prove to the commissioners this is not something our town & community is in agreement with. We need to voice our concerns now as the public hearing is Nov 5th 6pm at Carroll Comm College.
