Remove marijuana from the Federal Schedule 1 in 2015!

We the undersigned petition Congress to make removal of marijuana from the Schedule 1 substance list one of their first priorities and thereby allow each state to formulate their own laws regarding sales and distribution.

Why is this important?

Of all the mistakes in the failed drug war, the obsessive and overzealous enforcement of arcane marijuana regulations has no doubt had the worst effect on our society. We need to demand our lawmakers commit THIS YEAR in the mid term elections where the issues aren't buried in Presidential politics, to removing marijuana from the Schedule 1 list, better yet remove it completely from the entire substance control list. I went to prison for a few joints back in the early 1970's and at the time I was an honor student, nationally ranked athlete and editor of the campus sports page. That record has hounded me throughout the years, and there are millions more like me, whose lifetime potential was robbed by these arcane laws. And that can only hurt society as a whole. We can't get that back, but we can make certain the leaders of the future are not saddled with the same obstacles by demanding our lawmakers take responsibility as one of their first acts of 2015, when the 114th Congress is seated.
