Simple idea: part of the reason many mass killers choose to end the lives of so many others is that they want to achieve notoriety. Allowing them to become household names gives them exactly what they want, and encourages future killers.
Why is this important?
Many of my friends were deeply affected by the UC Santa Barbara shooting. As a college student myself, this issue is something close to my heart.
