Remove Requirement to Increase the Debt Ceiling

Congress should pass, and the president should sign, legislation to remove the requirement that the debt ceiling needs to be increased to accommodate expenditures of our federal government that have been duly authorized and for which funds have been appropriated. The nation's capacity to pay its debts should never be in question.

Why is this important?

The appropriate time to discuss the level of government spending is at the time of budget negotiations. The need to increase the debt ceiling has become a dangerous tool in the hands of a small minority who have shown themselves capable of harming not only our economy but also the world economy in order to achieve their goal of small government.
