The first amendment starts, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion". The words were added in 1954 as an affront to communism and have no place in a free American society.
Why is this important?
It would be just as reasonable to replace the words "under God" with "in this simulation". This is a secular nation. The words are a slap in the face to millions of agnostics, atheists, polytheists etc.
