The federal goverment must take the following immediate actions in order to ensure the energy future of the US:
-eliminate all subsidies to the consumption of fossil fuels,
-encourage the safe disposal of all wastes from the consumption of fossil fuel by strongly enforcing all environmental laws,
-urgently support the research and development of renewable energy sources, and
-encourage the use of solar and wind energy by providing strong tax incentives to install these universally.
Why is this important?
The US must accelerate its use of renewable energy and reduce its dependence on fossil fuels. Consuming fossil fuels causes global warming and makes our country dependent on unstable foreign governments for its energy supply thereby reducing our global security.
