Rep. Moylan, Make Corporations Pay their Fair Share of Taxes
Put students, teachers, and seniors before corporate profits: Support Illinois House Bill 390, a bill to eliminate nearly $500 million in corporate tax giveaways annually.
Why is this important?
At a time when Illinois is considering laying off 13,000 teachers, cutting college scholarships for 30,000 students and evicting hundreds of veterans from supportive housing, state representative Marty Moylan voted to protect almost $500 million in wasteful corporate tax loopholes — instead of making corporations pay their fair share.
If enough of us tell Marty we disapprove of his vote, we can convince him to reverse course and support House Bill 390, a bill that would close $500 million annually in corporate tax loopholes and provide much needed revenue for schools, infrastructure and public safety.
When big, profitable corporations don’t pay their fair share, the rest of us pay more. Our income taxes provide more than 55% of Illinois’ revenue, but corporate income taxes provide a meager 9% of state revenue. Let’s make sure Rep. Moylan knows we’re counting on him to represent his constituents, not helping corporations dodge their taxes.
