Rep. Ryan: Voting Rights Amendment act 2014
We request that you be a cosponsor of the Voting Rights Amendment Act of 2014 that has been introduced by Reps. Jim Sensenbrenner (R-WI) and John Conyers (D-MI) and Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-VT).
Why is this important?
We have already seen restriction of voting rights in Texas and North Carolina as a result as last year's Supreme Court ruling that weakened provisions of the Voting Rights Act. These protections need to be restored to ensure fair elections in all of our states. We believe that you should cosponsor and support passage of this legislation.
