Repeal FEMA Disaster Reservist Program

We ask that Congress enact legislation FEMA to rollback Disaster Reservist Program and FEMA Qualification System, reinstates the FEMA Disaster Employee Program, and makes no further changes to the Disaster Assistance Employee program without Congressional approval.

Why is this important?

Repeal the FEMA Disaster Reservist Program implementations and assosciated FEMA Qualification System. Currently, through Implementation of the above two programs, FEMA is losing an average of seven employees per day -- a number that will severely hamper future response efforts to national disasters.

Reasons for signing

  • I resigned from the FEMA Reservist program because of the FQS system. As a DAE/Reservist I responded to over 40 disasters from 2004 to 2016. I was fully qualified and experience is about 5 positions. The FQS system demoted hundreds, if not thousands of us. Management positons were then given to young inexperienced former FEMA Corps members with little education or experience.
