Repeal the RICO law enacted in Illinois

Gangs acting as an organizational unit is a thing of the past. Anita Alvarez was quoted as saying, “Instead of looking at the individual acts of one or two gang members, we are going to be looking at the entire enterprise ... somehow really make a dent into the gang problems and get to the guys who are calling the shots".

Anyone not hiding under a rock and whose a part of the community where "gang violence" exists knows its not a gang problem anymore. There's no organizational structure in the violence we are seeing today. Its random acts of violence. Its a struggle for scarce resources.

Illinois Law Makers have created a bill that totally misses the mark with regard to lowering the level of violence. What this bill is going to do is lock up a lot of kids for a long time for hanging out with the wrong crowd and that's unreasonable. This bill is too far reaching and is not an efficient plan to lower murder rates, crime, drug or sex trafficking. We believe RICO will essentially forge an attack on minorities and in turn have a negative impact on minority families, their economic standing and even worsen the overall economy from leaving children without parents or in single family homes due to the higher rate of incarceration that will be provided under this law. Sign this petition to say NO and to REPEAL the RICO law.

Why is this important?

On June 11th 2012 the RICO bill was passed into law this Bill was sponsored by Democrat Mike Zalewski, supported by Democrat Anita Alvarez and signed into law by Democrat Pat Quinn . We want to have this bill repealed immediately. Please read to find out why....
