Uphold the rights of safety for all children in education. This is a call for BETTER action. Acknowledge that hate speech is violence. Clarify accountability for students, educators, and leadership in policy AND practice.
Why is this important?
My daughter has been the target of racially discriminatory, gender degrading, belief insulting harassment by the same student who has spewed hate speech at her twice in the past year. I will not allow it to happen for a third instance. My child and all children deserve to feel safe, supported, and equally important in school. We must demand accountability from our school system to ensure their policy is put into ACTION.
