Republican Inaction On Immigration Is Hurting My Family!
Republican inaction on immigration reform is hurting my family and millions of other families like mine. Now is the time to fix our broken immigration laws. We can't wait any longer.
Why is this important?
I know our country's immigration laws are broken.
My son-in-law, who has been in this country since he was a teenager, was racially profiled, stopped, and arrested in the small town of Fincastle, VA. In just a matter of weeks, he was dropped in a Mexican border town without ever having appeared in front of a judge and without signing a voluntary removal document. These types of deportations are happening at a rate of 1,100 per day and must be stopped!
Over 200 days ago, the Democratic-led Senate passed an immigration bill that would update our broken immigration laws. Yet, Speaker John Boehner and key Republicans in the House -- including my member of Congress, Rep. Bob Goodlatte -- are refusing to allow a vote on it.
As the Chair of the House Judiciary Committee, Rep. Goodlatte has the power to move legislation, like the Senate's immigration bill, that could directly help my family and millions of families like mine. Still, Rep. Goodlatte has refused to meet with me (and even my pastor) to talk about it.
I need your help getting through to Rep. Goodlatte. Since he's a key Republican working on immigration reform, his decisions will impact all of us!
