The value of any democratic government is dependent upon the participation of that nation’s citizenry, and modern technological innovations provide the opportunity for a greater number of people to be more directly involved in the political process. Just as the television and the radio made it easier for candidates to develop a rapport with prospective voters, the Internet provides further opportunities. You are therefore invited to participate in an online debate hosted by Democracy++.

Why is this important?
DemocracyPlusPlus.com is attempting to facilitate a more personal and accessible civil discourse between citizens and candidates for, or holders of elected office. We plan on using a combination of live video streaming with a one-time-use login for individuals to pose questions, then vote for those questions that they feel should be asked. Our hope is that these debates and question-answer sessions will foster a greater interest in politics among citizens and lessen the gap between holders of public servants and those they serve.
