To: Lovely Warren, Mayor for The City of Rochester, NY and City Council
Request for EMHCS to occupy the property at 27 Zimbrich St
June 2015
Honorable Mayor Lovely Warren
Honorable City Council Members
30 Church Street
Rochester, New York 14614
Dear Mayor Warren and City Council Members:
As a member of the Rochester Community, I would like your support to allow Eugenio Maria de Hostos Charter School to take over occupancy of Lincoln School #22 on 27 Zimbrich Street when it becomes vacant in June 2015. The request was previously made by Ibero –American Action League and I support that request. Eugenio Maria de Hostos Charter School has been serving our Rochester students for the past 15 years. The school serves over 400 students from grades Kindergarten through eighth grade.
Earlier this year, State University of New York (SUNY) has re-chartered Eugenio Maria de Hostos Charter School for five more years. SUNY has also authorized Eugenio Maria de Hostos Charter school to double its K-8 student population and add a high school component within the next five years. In order to accomplish this goal, our school would require additional space with which School #22 would adequately address this need.
School #22 is located in a neighborhood that faces many socio-economic challenges. Eugenio Maria de Hostos Charter School has been located in the same neighborhood for the past fifteen years. Eugenio Maria de Hostos Charter School has demonstrated all children, regardless of their socio-economic and demographic backgrounds, can be academically successful. Eugenio Maria de Hostos Charter School has outperformed the Rochester City School district by double digits.
We believe allowing Eugenio Maria de Hostos Charter School to acquire School #22 on Zimbrich Street will benefit the neighborhood and give parents a school choice. Thank you for your support.

Why is this important?
My children have been Students at Eugenio Maria de Hostos Charter school for several years. The school serves the community, and the families of it's students in many ways, and has done a fantastic job at creating an environment while young minds can grow and thrive, and families can build skills. Helping them to progress as a school, will no doubt help the community they serve.
