Require Congress to take Economics Courses

We require construction workers, electricians, teachers, accountants, lawyers, doctors, dentists, even manicurists to pass a proficiency test before they can earn a living at what they do. Why, then, do we let our congress make decisions that can turn out to be life and death decisions, that will affect millions, without requiring that they know what they are doing?
An example is the cutbacks on unemployment insurance payments. These funds are almost always spent locally, supporting the local businesses who prosper and in turn hire more people. Then both the businesses and the new hires pay income taxes and unemployment is reduced. Just one obvious and simple economics principal that a lot of Congress doesn't seem to grasp and they might understand if they were required to be educated in Economics.

Why is this important?

Congress make decisions that will affect millions, without fully understanding the repercussions of their actions. They vote for cuts, perhaps thinking this will save the government money when in fact it ends up costing more in the long run.
