REQUIRE POLICE TO REPORT THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE THEY KILL OR INJURE

How many Michael Browns are there? Law enforcement agencies are not required to submit to any government entity reports detailing the number of people their officers kill or injure. President Obama and the U.S. Congress must enact laws that mandate that all local, state and federal law enforcement entities as well as companies that use or employ private-duty security officers report the number of victims shot, killed or injured by officers they employ (on and off duty). Law enforcement entities should report data to the Bureau of Justice Statistics. Each report must include both the officer's and the victim's name, race, age and gender. It must also include the officer's account of events and the victim's/victim's representative's response to the officer's report.

Why is this important?

Law enforcement agencies are backed by strong lobbies. Thus, there are no laws mandating that law enforcement agencies report the number of people they kill or injure.
