Require property owners to allow tenants to dry their clothes outside on their balconies and patios!
Currently, many lease agreements in multi-tenant buildings forbid renters from hanging their clothes outside to dry on their own patios and balconies. This requires tenants to use electric clothes driers and contribute to global warming and CO2. A proclamation by Governor Brown could require property owners to allow tenants to dry their clothes outside on clothes racks which saves money and cuts down CO2 production.
Why is this important?
Many owners of apartment complexes forbid tenants to hang their clothes outside to dry because they think "it doesn't look nice". But our concern as a community should be "how can I cut down my energy use to save the planet?" Hanging clothes outside to dry is economical and uses no energy. Everyone should be able to use the sun and the wind to dry their clothes if they choose. It's time to get rid of this archaic lease term!
