Rescind Corporate Personhood
Corporations are not people. They cannot be held accountable like you and me. They have no natural life span, cannot be jailed nor executed. They do not have a conscience or a beating heart. This makes them immune to the natural and civil laws that encourage most Americans to work towards the common good, however they see it.
We urge you, our elected representatives of the United States of America, to enact a law that abolishes any and all forms of corporate personhood. A law that clearly delineates between people and corporations, and restores the original purpose of corporations as that of benefitting the public, and of producing profit only as a means to that end. This law should furthermore forbid any corporation from attempting to influence elections, public policy, or other realm of civic society, just as they were so limited by our country's forefathers.
We are the people of the United States of America, and we demand that you, as our elected representatives, act on our behalf on this urgent matter. We request that you draft such an act and sign it into law by May 1st, 2012.

Why is this important?
Corporations are not people, and they never were. The erroneous granting of the commonly held rights of people to corporations has done much to undermine the well-being of our nation. It has lead to a national agenda that serves not its citizens, but primarily the profits of large corporations. Profit, we acknowledge, is not bad in an of itself, it is profit at the expense of everything else that is inadmissible. It is time that our elected officials correct this error and put an end to corporate personhood and all corporate influence in politics.
