Why is this important?
This petition opposes Gov. Jindal's unprecedented assault on public education and teachers. His proposed 'reforms' rapidly expand an already failing charter system: 80% of charters in New Orleans have received Ds and Fs. He is proposing vouchers, which places even more public dollars in unaccountable private hands. His assault on the teaching profession flies in the face of everything we've learned from the world's top performing educators, including those from Finland. We call on Gov. Jindal to end his cynical, misguided attacks on public schools and on our teachers.
