To: The Maine State House and The Maine State Senate
Respect the will of Maine voters. Protect Ranked Choice Voting!
In 2016, Mainers voted decisively in favor of ranked choice voting. The Maine Supreme Judicial Court has said that ranked choice is legal and valid in federal elections and state primaries.
But the Maine House and Senate are debating whether to respect the will of the voters. This is a no-brainer. Stand up for democracy!

Why is this important?
Ranked choice voting (RCV) allows voters to rank candidates on the ballot, not just pick one -- making their voices truly heard. RCV discourages attack ads, eliminates the "spoiler effect," and ensures that election winners have the support of a majority of voters. RCV allows us to vote our hopes, not our fears.
In 2016, Maine voters decisively passed the Maine Ranked Choice Voting Initiative (Question 5). Since then, the Legislature has been debating whether they want to respect the will of the voters, and even considered repealing RCV. Now, they're debating it again.
Democracy is built on the simple idea that elections should reflect the will of the people. Now, some officials seem to think that voters can’t be trusted. Sign the petition to tell the Maine legislature to respect the will of the voters!
