We propose that gun ownership be similar to other constitutional rights, such as the right to private property. Gun owners should have to register their ownership, follow clear regulations, and carry liability insurance -- just like owners of private buildings. If someone slips and falls I have insurance; if my car injures someone, I have insurance; if my gun goes off, I have insurance. In this way constitutional rights are protected, and so are other members of society.
Why is this important?
We propose a practical method to keep the second amendment right to gun ownership, while protecting society from accidents and senseless shootings.
