Re-establish access to Adult Day Health Care programs to allow any medically-eligible person to attend. Do not limit to low-income Medi-Cal patients only. Middle-class families should be able to attend, paying on a sliding scale for this essential service.
Why is this important?
Over the past year, California's Adult Day Health Care (ADHC) program was completely cut from the State budget. Having my mom attend this program allowed my dad to work during the day. ADHC serves adults 5-days-a-week who are frail, disabled or have dementia--keeping them out of nursing homes. It was the ONLY program to help middle-class families because program rules didn't require you to be poor in order to attend. Taking this option away hurts middle-class families.
