Restore Bankruptcy Protections To Private Student Loans

Pursuing an education should not result in a life of indentured servitude. Restore bankruptcy protection to private student loans NOW.

Why is this important?

In 2005, Congress removed bankruptcy protections from private student loans, making private student debt one of two types of debt not dischargeable in bankruptcy.

This decision was made after intense and well-funded lobbying by corrupt corporations who had no qualms about creating a permanently debt-enslaved working class with no legal rights or recourse.

Education shouldn't lead to penury, and the corporations which are happy to profit off of the misery of millions of Americans shouldn't have the right to do so because their money buys them the Congressional access to make it happen.
