We Richmond residents are dismayed and disturbed by the firing of Police Department Captain Mark Gagan, an outstanding officer and leader. We urge the City of Richmond to reconsider Captain Gagan’s termination and restore him as an employee of the Richmond Police Department.
Why is this important?
Mark Gagan has always been forthright, intelligent, helpful, responsible and articulate. He epitomizes community involved policing.
We are amazed that the Richmond Police Department, instead of using progressive discipline including suspension, reduction in rank or a written reprimand, would fire Captain Gagan.
