Restore Democracy to the Senate
In 2017 Mitch McConnel took democracy out of the Senate to win a SCOTUS seat for ultra-conservatives. It is time to restore democracy to the Senate and require a 60 person majority to confirm SCOTUS appointments.
Why is this important?
The Senate was intended to be a deliberative democratic institution. By lowering the bar to 51% for lifetime SCOTUS appointments, the Senate no longer has any need to be deliberative and it is only democratic on paper. With a 2 party system, 51% says one party dictates to the nation. Make America Democratic Again.
