Why is this important?
Black Oak Bayou has been mismanaged for 2 decades. We now have a manager who wants to put in the time and effort to restore it to what it once was. A place for all wildlife, not just fish. There are a few who have made their way into the spot light with misinformation and scare tactics to try and stop this. They are claiming it will hurt the eagles, the pelicans and yes even "the children". They are also falsely claiming it is being done for the benefit of duck hunters, NO it is for the benefit of all wild life, including migrating waterfowl and shore birds. Truth be told, duck hunters loose 2 more openings for hunting here.
What has been proposed is based off of sound conservation practices. They are not spraying chemicals that will kill off the wildlife or fish which is another of their claims. They will be using the same chemicals that are currently being used at other Fish and Wild Life areas with ZERO impact to fish or other wildlife.
