To: The Maine State House and The Maine State Senate

Maintain Same-Day Voter Registration

On Thursday, the House passed L.D. 1376, a Republican-backed bill to end Same-Day Voter Registration. Republicans have claimed that this is all about alleviating a crushing burden faced each election day by municipal clerks yet not one clerk has publicly objected to voter registration on election day. In fact, the Maine Association of Municiple Clerks supports same-day voter registration. This is clearly about voter suppression.

Same-Day Voter Registration is an important part of Maine's electoral process. In the past two general election 68,000 Mainers registered on the day that they voted.

The Senate must vote again for final approval of L.D. 1376. Sign this petition today and let the Legislature know that we want Same-Day Voter Registration in Maine.
